Had she done so she would have been able to denounce Angeline as her attempted murderer. Did Angeline ensure that Lexie died in hopsital by tampering with equipoment? No suggestion of that.

2. "Would Oaksey have been able to prove his innocence and show that the killer of Malachi, Lexie and maybe the people in the chapel as well was Angeline. She had heard a prognosis that Lexie might make a good recovery albeit left with terrible burns scars, and Lexie would then have been able to denounce Angeline as her attempted murderer. Yet Angleine never shows any signs of concern at this possibility and there is no indication that she tampered with the hospital equipmentn to ensure Lexie's death.Robin Gordon-Walkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13420614334299239873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36749015.post-41185256029491923382010-08-24T08:47:14.060-05:002010-08-24T08:47:14.060-05:00How was Angeline so sure Lexie would die in the Gl...How was Angeline so sure Lexie would die in the Glasgow hospital? But one thing I still don't get: did Angeline murder all the people as well? Or did Malachi kill them and then later on she killed him herself?shanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04596083086125772808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36749015.post-364430253401853222008-09-25T22:35:00.000-05:002008-09-25T22:35:00.000-05:00Hayder is subtle with her reveal at the end of the...Hayder is subtle with her reveal at the end of the book, but if you read the last pages closely, it's clear that Angeline had been possessed by the spirit of her father, which makes the rest of the book fall into place. The rituals in the barn were Malachi working out the ritual to transfer his spirit into his daughter's body. Only he had the motivation to so elaborately seek revenge on Joe. Even having sex with Joe was part of the revenge, as Joe has to live the rest of his life with the knowledge that he was so intimate with the evil old man.

Angeline's last words to Joe are "You don't believe in possession or evil." Why would she even bring up possession if she wasn't trying to communicate this information to Joe. The last thing Joe describes seen is Dove's spirit leaving his daughter's body and hovering over the limousine.

Dove has made good on all of his promises. Joe's peace of mind is ruined and Malachi's death is spectacular and memorable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36749015.post-61168219944494950862007-03-01T15:57:00.000-05:002007-03-01T15:57:00.000-05:00Yah its weird.
